In Telluride and Mountain Village, activities abound for children of all ages. Outdoor adventures are available year-round. Educational opportunities are found in the area's public and private schools as well as other special learning programs offered. locally. Whether enjoying the summer festivals or winter diversions offered here amidst the mountain peaks, children experience the carefree enjoyment of actively growing, learning and just being a kid.
Adventure Programs and Camps
Science literacy for students is the passion of the Pinhead Institute. They bring scientists to the local schools and send students into the world of science all around the globe.
San Juan Outdoor School
Kids from 4 to 18 years old can participate in cross-country skiing, hiking, mountaineering, ice climbing and snowshoeing at this outdoor school devoted to active learning.
Telluride Adaptive Sports
This local non-profit organization encourages personal growth and athletic participation for people with disabilities. In the winter, the focus is on adaptive skiing.
Kid's Night Out
This program offered by Telluride Ski Resort is available for kids from 5 to 12 years old. They can enjoy tubing, pizza and a movie during the holiday season. Requires scheduling a group of 5 or more.
Ah Haa School for the Arts
There's a musical experience for children of all ages from newborn to teenagers. Both long and short term classes are offered as well as private instruction.
At the Telluride Middle/High School children can test their skills in the climbing gym, Tuesday through Friday. Opportunity sponsored by The Horizon Program. Shoes and harnesses available.

Telluride Town Park
Outdoor oval is open from 9 am to 10 pm from early December to late February. The refrigerated and enclosed Pavilion is open from 9 am to 3 pm, Wednesday and Friday, 9 am to 12 noon, 1:30 to 3:30 pm on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Call for weekend details.
Wilkinson Public Library
Children can enjoy a large selection of books, reference materials, computers, interactive CD's, vidoes and DVD's. Call for hours and storytime schedule.
The Telluride Rock and Roll Academy
Learn the art of playing in a band. Children are instructed in playing the guitar, bass, drums, piano and performance vocals.

At the Telluride Youh Center, tweens and teens from 11 to 15 years old can play air hockey, Xbox games, and foosball. There's a movie library for the large screen TV and DVD player and an area devoted to tuning skis and snowboards. High school kids can use the center as a gathering place and enjoy free pizza, bands and DJ's on the weekends until midnight.
